| The

Without a doubt, the hot spot for diving on Zanzibar is Nungwi,
located at the northern tip of the island. We can do at least
10 dives here. |

the fanatics, we have put together packages of 10 dives at discount
rates. |

Should you wish to dive during your stay on Zanzibar, please
let us know at the time of booking and also what gear is required. Dive moneys should be paid when bookings are made or groups can also handle this direct with the dive centre.

People often bring their own dive equipment; it is cheaper,
it's a perfect fit and comfortable. On this trip, it is also
possible to bring your own gear. The truck had enough storage space, as long as you confine to the standard gear of a suit, BCD, regulator and mask/fins. However, on Zanzibar the trip is no longer guided and
you must carry your gear across on the ferry and on to Nungwi.
We advice a 5 mill, full length suit.
If
you have no experience under water and you would like an introduction,
short courses can be organized. The dive centre can also help
you with night dives,
DPV (under water scooter), Nitrox, photography, navigation
and deep dive training. We need to know in advance if you
would like a course or specialty training.
* A good dive insurance is compulsory. There
is no deco tank in Tanzania and in case of an emergency, people
must be transferred to either Mombasa or South Africa.

Diving
on Zanzibar will take you to magnificent under water magic,
with unspoiled reefs, an abundance of tropical fish and a variety
of game fish. It is possible to see barracuda, or the hawksbill,
the green sea turtle, most of the reef fishes of the Indian
Ocean and plenty of hard and soft coral formations. With some
luck you might even encounter manta rays, reef sharks or the
biggest of them all, the whale shark. Dolphins are common
guests during the boat rides. Zanzibar's northern coast is
on the migration route of the manta, whales and whale sharks.
Zanzibar offers relaxed conditions with water temperatures
of 26°C
degrees
and a 20 meters visibility. Currents do occur, but not
too serious.

Leven Bank
This is a deep dive, for experienced divers. A big variety
of reef fish and bigger species like tuna. Other frequent
visitors are: barracuda, kingfish, rays, napoleon fish, morays
and sometimes reef sharks or hammerheads. The location and
shape (like
an escarpment) of the reef makes this the perfect drift dive.

| Hunga
Reefs
A short boat ride will take you to the Hunga Reefs. It is
actually 3 different spots, with depths measuring 12 to 18
meters. A large numbers of fishes occur. Scorpion-, stone-
en lion fish are often spotted. Beautiful corals and big schools
of fish make this a popular spot, which is very suitable for
the novice diver.
Nankivell Rock
A big solitary rock formation at a depth of 15 meter. Beautiful
corals offer hiding places to lots of reef fishes. This location
is tide dependant. |

Chaka
Tuni
A long stretched reef at a depth of 20 meter, known for the
hard and soft corals, the reef fish and turtles on occasion.

and coral fish.
